This group of talented veteran and emerging authors made a committment to the craft of writing. One that involved vowing to write daily, weekly, or at least pin those characters who are tumbling around in their brains onto some form of document.
These authors have sacrificed lunch hours, scribbled notes while riding the train, have written on their hands, jeans, something…anything that serves as a medium to capture their plot. NaNoWriMo authors set the bar for the rest of us to follow.
Insert Applause: You deserve it.
It is now time to polish the manuscript and pursue publication.
Before you dash off to self-publish your title I would like to offer a word of advice. Trust me on this one. Like fine wine, quality books need time to season.
Now is the time to let your characters talk amongst themselves while you identify exactly who you want to publish your manuscript. Do you have a niche’ market identified?
Who will enjoy reading about the characters you have created? Who wants to read your writing style? This process isn’t as difficult as you might think. Obviously book clubs are interested in finding a “fresh new voice.” You can be that voice with a little time and dedication. So, as your characters rest, assemble a plan. To help you in this process Make Your Mark Publishing has discounted the Kindle version of Stress-free Marketing: Practical Advice for the Newly Published Author to $ 2.99.
