You are doing it right. I think people are weary of the constant inundation from so many authors and businesses. It’s called Facebook Fatigue. Twitter seems even worse with continual ads.

i deleted both my personal and author pages awhile back. Neither seemed to be doing anything toward progressing my career as an author – it was difficult getting people on the personal page to acknowledge my writing, and it was downright impossible to get folks to interact on the author page. Neither seemed to garner book sales or attendance to the few events I had. Perhaps I’m just not doing it right?

Great information though – I will definitely revisit the idea of having a social media presence as I go forward.

Thank you for your efforts and the support you’ve shown to others in need. Your light shines brightly.

When the massive tornado hit Joplin, MO and left it barely a spot on the map, the Missouri Writer’s Guild put together an anthology – personal stories and poems about surviving storms.

Beyond the printing costs- I think the MO Arts Council may be given a grant for printing costs…maybe. All proceeds for the sale of the book – (it’s available in ebook, too), which means everyone involved gave of their time and talent, especially Debra Marshall, past President of MWG – go to fund the school libraries in Joplin.

Maybe there is an opportunity for GWA to do something like this in 2013. The need for the folks in Sandy’s path will continue for a long while…as it still does in New Orleans, 7 years after the storm.

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for the response. I will respond to all emails. Currently, damaged libraries are in the process of being cleaned. Staff are tossing damaged books, ripping out carpet and restoring buildings into community centers where folk can charge their phones and use the restroom (in addition to check out books). When I receive the green light, I will send you an email with the shipping address. There is an urgent need for Children’s and Young Adult books.
